Your Winter Journey Begins: Parks and Trails

In the winter season, the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park has just as much to see, with a fresh new coat of snow it wants to show off. Over 50 kilometers of trails weave through the landscape, to be explored by hikers, on snowshoes, or riding a snow bike. You can find rentals for cross country skis, snowshoes and “fat bikes” at the Nordic center, as well as warmth and nourishment at the start or end of your journey. 

 



Wasaga Beach Provincial Park (WBPP) 

In the winter season, the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park has just as much to see, with a fresh new coat of snow it wants to show off. Over 50 kilometers of trails weave through the landscape, to be explored by hikers, on snowshoes, or riding a snow bike. You can find rentals for cross country skis, snowshoes and “fat bikes” at the Nordic center, as well as warmth and nourishment at the start or end of your journey. 

 

 
Oakview Woods Outdoor Complex 
A four-season gem, Oakview Woods becomes a classic community scene, as the tennis courts are transformed in an outdoor rink for the frozen months. Grab a hot chocolate and go for a glide with your friends and family. The trees in the park light up with Christmas lights to the delight of passers-by. The dog park remains open for your furry companions to frolic amidst the frosty beauty of the season.

Winter at the Beach 
A beach walk in the winter can be as lovely as the summer, with the view of the frosty Georgian bay, snow covered ice formations, and the surrounding shoreline. Stay on the shore, and make sure you read up on your winter safety tips before you head out, as the ice can present unique dangers. 
 







Hockey and Ice Skating 

Like every good Canadian town, winter in Wasaga Beach means ice sports. Check out the outdoor rink at Oakview woods, or our brand new Wasaga Stars Arena, with two ice pads, an attached library and tons of weekly activities! 






Skiing and Snowboarding 

Due to our central location, there is close access to snow sports. Locally, the Wasaga Nordic Centre is available for cross country skiing and rentals. Explore the glittering trails and the crisp winter air of the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. If downhill is more your style, there are multiple resorts nearby for your enjoyment in Blue Mountain and north of Barrie.  
 





Snowmobiling 

Wasaga Beach is a snowmobiling hotspot in the winter. Location of OFSC District 8, Wasaga Beach is full of trails, fuel stops, repair stations, and best of all: lots and lots of snow. If you're ready to carve your way through a snow-covered paradise and experience the exhilaration of snowmobiling, grab your gear and get ready to make tracks in the snow!"

Wasaga Beach is home to a number of diverse ecosystems, from wetlands to woodlands to our unique dunes along the Nottawasaga River, beautiful in both summer and winter seasons. Fat Biking 
Increasing in popularity, “fat biking” or snow biking, is a new and fun way to explore the woods in the winter. Cruise Wasaga's snow covered forests on one of these large-tired chariots, and keep in touch with your fellow cycling enthusiasts.
